So over the last couple weekends I set about installing the Anchor Lock. I installed the Scotty Flush mount last weekend and this weekend I did the rigging. The Anchor Lock can be installed using a raised Scotty mount as well but as it is fitted at the very front of the kayak I wanted this area to be free of any obstacles for fishing line and the like especially on those days when I choose not to have the anchor with me.
Today I made up a Rope Winder from some cutting board and wound on some 4mm rope with a 2kg Dumbbell attached to the end to act as an anchor. Time will tell whether a 2kg weight is enough to hold my kayak in place while in a current with myself on board. I am keen to try it out and it will be perfect for times when I wish to stop and have a cast around without fear of being swept away in the current.
