Well the day has arrived with the Ocean Kayak Prowler Ultra 4.3 being released at the 2011 Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show. With much anticipation it looks like it has ticked all the boxes as far as new features and I'm sure it will become a very popular model among the kayak fishing community. Lets hope it is released in Australia soon. To see the latest pictures and specifications go here. A video overview of it can be seen here
Due into Australia in July this year the Prowler Ultra 4.3 promises to be a top selling fishing kayak. It has
been built on the success of its big brother the Ultra 4.7 with every imaginable attention to detail and practicality included in its design to maximise the users kayak fishing experience.
Like the 4.7 the 4.3 will take the custom fully insulated icebox and internally mounted rod tube. The hard
chine’s will be rounded to help reduce drag, and the waterline increased at the tail to increase speed and
provide even better tracking. It will have a stream-lined Side Imaging transducer scupper to help reduce
The rear tank well will feature three scuppers for better drainage and the option of a hatch on the front wall to
access the area under the seat, allowing access and storage for small batteries if operating live bait pumps,
navigation lights or other electronics. The out board mounting point has been deepened so extra rod holders
can be fitted.
The seat is the same height as in 4.7 but uses a clip-in large foam seat pad and fixed back band taking the
paddlers comfort to a whole new level. The foot tracks are able to be moved 50mm forward or back to
accommodate paddlers 5” to 7”
The flush mount side rod holders will be angled out more for better rod position when stationary fishing and
the dash board area will have 3 steps at different angle that will allow up to 13 rod holder configurations.
A welcome addition for many kayak fishermen will be the easy to use click seal front, eliminating the need for
a neoprene undercover but still providing a good water resistant seal. The centre flip lid hatch has a larger
cut-out to accommodate some of the larger Humminbird sounders.
The projected weight of 27kg (29 kg with rudder) will give it wide appeal. For further information from the
