X Pak Kayak Crate Cover

While browsing recently at a local kayak store I came across the X Pak Crate Cover. These have been on the scene for some time in the USA and I was surprised to see one locally in the store. I had been thinking recently that I needed better organisation in the rear well of my kayak and I had been thinking of getting a crate but this crate cover was even better.

The X Pak Crate cover is designed to fit over a 13"x 13"milk crate and is made from Marine Grade Polyester Fabric. It has pockets on both sides of the cover with zipped compartments and stitched sleeved areas where the two included rod holders can be located in a vertical position. This gives you storage of two additional rods if needed on the kayak. If more rod storage was need you could purchase two additional rod holder sleeves and use them on the opposite side of the crate cover however with my Prowler 13 alread having two rear flush mounts I have room for at least four rods now.

The pockets on the front and rear of the cover are useful for storing tackle trays,Pliers, Knives,  packets of soft plactics and other related fishing gear plus you still have the massive storage space inside the crate area itself. I have not pictured it below but the crate cover also comes with a shoulder strap so when packing or unpacking your kayak it just a matter of attaching the shoulder strap and carrying your gear complete to or from your car.

The Crate with the cover attached fits perfectly in the rear well of my Prowler 13 still allowing space in the front of the well to store my anchor and assocated gear.

The first time I used it I was able to take four rods with me, have all my tackle store in the pockets, my cooler bag inside the crate and have two bait fishing rods in the rod holders of the crate cover and my two lure fishing rod outfits in the kayaks flush mount rear holders. It certainly has created some more room for me that is easy to manage when out on the water.

Retail is $69.95 and is available at Adventure Outlet.
